Gaia’s Essence Women’s Wellness Conference is an annual event held on Long Island New York. The conference originated out of the passion of the founder of Gaia’s Essence to empower and motivate women in reaching and maintaining their optimum health. For quite a few years she had encountered many women who were seeking information on starting and maintaining a healthier lifestyle. In today’s society the battle for being healthy is a very powerful one. This gave her the vision to create the conference as an avenue where women of all ages could come together to share, empower and inspire each other to live happier healthier lives.

Farrah La Ronde-Hutchison     Scientist . CEO . Founder . Director . Speaker

Farrah was born and grew up on the island of Dominica in the eastern Caribbean. The island known regionally as the Nature Isle of the Caribbean for its culture, biodiversity and large centenarian population. Dominica instilled in her a respect for nature, the environment and the power of healthy living. She migrated to New Orleans where she received a BS degree in Environmental Science and specialization in Biology and Chemistry. After much success in the industry, working in the field of Environmental Management, Planning and Water Quality she found a growing need of health education for the women in the community. She wanted to educate on the impacts of an unhealthy lifestyle on the physical body. Understanding that our bodies are our first environment. This was her inspiration to create Gaia’s Essence, is a lifestyle company which focuses on the empowerment and development of women. We facilitate them in achieiving their dreams and life goals while celebrating their achievemnets.

She developed an extensive line of Loose Teas and Salt & Sugar Free Spices which was featured in the local Whole Foods stores on Long Island. The products became customer favorites for over seven years they were available at all the Long Island stores. She founded Gaia’s Essence Women’s Wellness Conference (GEWWC) to educate women on environmental impacts of synthetic products on health. The conference has been in existence for for over a decade and is now the premeiere women’s health conference in New York. Most recently she has directed her first  video docu-series; Our Voice | Our Stories. An inspired series highlighting women and their life journeys. In 2020 she will be in production of her first documentary featuring her home country of Dominica.

Over the decade of building Gaia’s Essence Farrah has been featured in the Long Island Natural Awakening Magazine, interviewed on Verizon Fios, a featured speaker at Dowling College, Entrepreneur Award from the Middle Island Club, Guest speaker at local health and wellness events in the trip-state, Keynote speaker at the BeauTea Soiree health event in NY and panel speaker at the Business of WE Summit in Manhattan, NY. In 2018 Farrah was included in the top mompreneurs on Long Island by Newsday. Featuring female business owners balancing their role as a mom with her life as an entrepreneur catering to other moms.

Q&A With Farrah

Why did you decide to create this conference?

“Being an Environmental Scientist and knowing the effects of environmental toxins on our health is the main reasons I started the conference. I came across many different products, which were under the “wellness” umbrella but contained known toxins that affect the health of people, especially women and children.”

What makes GEWWC different?

“GEWWC takes a different approach to wellness. We understand that being well is not an achievement of a to do list but instead is a state of mind. The fact that everyone is unique means that there are infinite paths to achieving personal wellness. The GEWWC vision is to provide simple and exciting ways for everyone to find their own path to wellness.”

Why a Woman’s Conference?

“There is a lack of opportunities available to women who wanted to take time out for themselves where they can feel rejuvenated while learning from industry professionals on fun and achievable methods on being healthy. A healthier woman creates a healthy family, which make up healthier communities and ultimately a healthier world at large. The conference is geared towards finding efficient and effective methods to produce lifelong practices that work in every woman’s way of life.”
